One of the first items of ecommerce is to decide on what your domain name will be and that is what will your .com name will be.
There are plenty of tools available to you to find what domains have been taken and what are available.
Now when getting your domain name it is as a general rule of thumb better to get a .com and if that is just not available then second choice would be .net.
One place I used to find out what is available is Domainsearch. Your domain name should be as relevant as possible to your niche, as in if you were selling golf clubs it might be as simple as golfclubs.com, also it should be short as possible and easily memorable.
Once you find your available domain name the you must purchase it and that is done through a registrar. Generally speaking you should only pay about ten bucks a year for your domain.
Be careful of ones that say 1.95 they generally have a catch and you end up paying about 9.95 before you are done, if you don’t choose hosting options etc. I
f your plan is to join the rest of the internet marketers and have multiple sites you can take care of registration and host all in one. I have been really pleased with the following providers hosting options and price and they even give you your first domain name free for signing up Web hosting.
If you are a client of vianet this option is above and beyond the scope of the program and is to be done as a continued growth option, aside from your webzone account that is provided as a part of your packaging.
So thats domain name registration in a nut shell, Remember if you purchase your domain through another source you need to remember that source so you can manage you DNS options witch is done through that provider, more on DNS later.
All though Making money on the Internet is considered ecommerce, I separate the types of business into Two categories. Affiliate marketing is by far the easiest one of the two and can be as simple as a landing page or blog in which you present a good deal of information on a topic of choice and then find affiliate partners relevant to that topic and they provide you with text links and or Graphic links. So when the reader of your information has been warmed up, they click on these links and are forwarded to the sales page of your affiliate. These links include an affiliate ID so when they arrive the sales company knows where they came from and in turn gives you a commission for any sales incurred. Now the other option is what I call ecommerce and that is a site with a shopping cat program in which you sell your unique set of products. In this option there is far more involved, such as finding product, finding and dealing with wholesalers and or wholesale drop shippers, Drop shippers are wholesalers that you forward your orders to and they for a fee package and ship the product to the customer. It can be very difficult and time consuming to hunt down these wholesalers, legitimate ones that will deal with you the internet marketer. This is where companies like world Wide Brands and Doba come in they have data bases of wholesalers pre qualified and throughly checked out available, and that simplifies the process a great deal . but be Aware these are fee based companies. They are reasonable though so don’t panic. These are the two option availiable to you, depending on the amount of available time and effort you can put in should be a part of the decision you make and no matter which one I am here to help you through getting started and setup.
