One of the first items of ecommerce is to decide on what your domain name will be and that is what will your .com name will be.

There are plenty of tools available to you to find what domains have been taken and what are available.

Now when getting your domain name it is as a general rule of thumb better to get a .com and if that is just not available then second choice would be .net.

One place I used to find out what is available is Domainsearch. Your domain name should be as relevant as possible to your niche, as in if you were selling golf clubs it might be as simple as golfclubs.com, also it should be short as possible and easily memorable.

Once you find your available domain name the you must purchase it and that is done through a registrar. Generally speaking you should only pay about ten bucks a year for your domain.

Be careful of ones that say 1.95 they generally have a catch and you end up paying about 9.95 before you are done, if you don’t choose hosting options etc. I

f your plan is to join the rest of the internet marketers and have multiple sites you can take care of registration and host all in one. I have been really pleased with the following providers hosting options and price and they even give you your first domain name free for signing up Web hosting.

If you are a client of vianet this option is above and beyond the scope of the program and is to be done as a continued growth option, aside from your webzone account that is provided as a part of your packaging.

So thats domain name registration in a nut shell, Remember if you purchase your domain through another source you need to remember that source so you can manage you DNS options witch is done through that provider, more on DNS later.
